Wow, this thing is working.  Let me tell you a little about our next day in Rouen.   It is an old city, perhaps most famous for the execution of Joan of Arc.  We walked through the old cobbled streets, noticed the huge clock tower, and listened to it tolling the time as it has done for centuries. Then we found the very modern church at the center of the city that marks the spot where Joan, the savior of France, was burned.  Legend relates that her ashes were thrown into the river nearby, but her heart was still intact.

Most fun of that morning was shopping.   With Perry, many of you must be thinking?  How does that make sense?  As we were walking on those uneven streets, something happened.   Perry's shoe began to come apart. He was flapping like a duck.   Then the second shoe did the same thing.  We had to stop so he could finish tearing off the sole of each shoe.  What luck, the stores had just begun the summer sale. After visiting several places, we entered the Printemps.  This is a big department store with many shoe options.  I must tell you that now Perry looks a bit more European with soft and comfy suede shoes.  The toes are a bit more "pointy" then we Americans prefer, but "oh-la-la".  They are nice---and I got to see some fun clothes.  All is good.
These old things just won't do!

  1. Oh how I "love" Rouen! That was one of my favorite cities when Joy and I visited France back in 1998 (she loved it too!). The flower carts in the street were so lovely! It is a very quaint town and the cathedral is amazing!!!

    I'm so jealous!
